I spent the weekend sewing, thinking of sewing, dreaming of sewing... I even drew blood to prove it! I have an old sewing machine, so sewing is always an event. I'm so glad that when my needle fell off in the middle of a seam that my fingers weren't nearby!
Every year when spring has arrived I obsess over finding a purse. It's kinda how I cope with all the weather teasing. I've had difficulty finding just the right purse (as I do every year). This time I decided I would make one.
I have a great purse from last year, but I wanted something that would be more practical for my short trip to NYC this year. The plans for this purse revolve around my one day of pure excitement. I needed something that I could wear as a bag. I had other plans for the purse, but as all my plans, they got altered. The purse is a little bit bigger than I wanted, but it will be a great bag for the summer that I can keep all my stuff in without having to change things out for different occassions.
This is the prototype. The second prototype. I have issues reading directions and putting pattern pieces together, so I don't use them. I make up my own skirt and purse designs. It takes a little longer, but my brain doesn't hurt quite as much.

This is the almost final product. I added a few buttons because I wanted the curve side on the other side because of the shoulder that I wear my purses on.
The straps. Actually, the next-to-last step. The wooden things are from an old Target purse. All about putting my packrat skills to use recycling.
The beginning of the inside.
Inside close-up.
Getting deeper into the inside. Not a good view. Better in person.
The back.
Buttons close up. I like the yellow best because of the design. The green one is pretty cool, too.
AND it is complete!
