...practiced Swahili. My friend brought fabric home from Africa for me to make some pillows for her guest bedroom. The Swahili on the print says: love is the light of life.
Two of the smaller pillows, I used an envelope closing. On the large pillow, I used buttons--always exciting using my buttonhole presser foot. This was my first and last time making a bolster; I was going to do an envelope closing, but I didn't cut enough fabric. My favorite is the ruffle pillow. I've been wanting to try using ruffles like that one something because I'm planning on using them in some upcoming projects.
This entire project took me about 10 hours...probably a little bit more if you include all the shopping and seam ripping. The pillows look way better in person than in this picture. I'm looking forward to seeing how they look on their new bed when I go to visit my friend in the spring.
