my super power is reversiblity

It’s a great feeling finishing projects that I started years and years ago. I still have a long way to go, but I’m seeing a flicker of an itty bitty light at the end of the tunnel.

Since I sold a few bags in my Etsy shop last month, I was able to buy the fabric for my next project in Stitch by Stitch which is the reversible tote. I needed to go to Hobby Lobby for zippers, so I bought some sale fabric (30% off which is a better deal than waiting for it to not be on sale to use the 40% coupon on one cut) while I was there. I’ve liked this black & cream damask for awhile. (I noticed this weekend that it’s similar to the wrapping paper I bought at Christmas. I think this year's color phase is turning into the non-color of black, which means I think I'm finally coming out of my everything needs to be blue-green phase.) Fabric: Cream & Black Polka Dots and Damask Cotton by Brother Sister Design Studio.

I’ve made many totes and purses in the past (and here and more not pictured), so the reversible tote was a pretty quick and easy project. I didn’t really like the dimensions of the straps when I was making them because turning them out was so difficult, and I thought they were going to look funny on a big bag. However, I really liked them in the end. I also thought that the bag’s bottom would be flimsy and look horrible with things in it, but it is surprisingly sturdy. I would like to make more of these bags for the grocery store. They’re the perfect size.

grocery + greater capacity
we all have a serious side. we all have a fun side.
What I learned along the way:
* I shouldn’t wash nice fabric with really fuzzy fabric. I spent a long time de-linting this fabric.
* How to better insert a lining.

Ooooohhh-- I love how big the capacity is! I need to make Haven a library tote and think this may just be the right size. Thanks for sharing!
