oh so charming

It's a good thing I skipped two of the projects in Stitch by Stitch because I might be pushing it to finish all the projects by the end of the year.  There's hope if I stay disciplined.  The charm skirt was time consuming.  I feel like that should be in all caps, capitalized, and italicized...mmmm....but I'm being lazy.  My time was consumed piecing all the charm squares and I still managed to have two of the same fabric prints/colors sewn on top of each other; sewing 84 squares together; ruffling and lining up all of those 84 squares; inserting elastic.  Wowzers!  That was two weekends of my life!

The charm skirt wasn't the most practical project since I don't have a daughter and my friends keep having boys.  (If I had read all the way through the instructions, I would have learned that I could make an adult version of the skirt.  Too late now and I'm not going back!)  I do love all the bright colors, so despite all the time I put into this skirt, every moment was worth it.

I used two charm packs of Just Wing It by MoMo for Moda.  The fabric is perfect for a little girl.

I like the billow-y-ness.  Perfect for twirling which might have been one of my favorite activities as a grown woman little girl.

I used an embroidered stitch instead of a straight stitch for the hem.  I thought I might as well go all the way with girliness -- except I guess that would mean using pink thread which I did not want to do.

The charm skirt turned out quite lovely charming.

I have now completed nine of the projects.  Three more to go!

p.s. I got to use my picnic placemats last weekend.  They were appreciated with great pleasure.
