I recently finished reading Murder in Mesopotamia by Agatha Christie. I thought it was a wonderful mystery. I often have some trouble keeping up with all the characters in Ms. Christie's books because there are so many and with indistinguishable characteristics making them all blend together. That was not the case in Murder in Mesopotamia. While I did speculate toward the beginning that the murderer did, in fact, commit the murder, Ms. Christie quickly had me suspecting more characters as to confuse me and to create a real mystery.
A woman receives life-threatening letters from a mysterious man. I can't tell you anymore about the plot because that would be giving the whole thing away! The setting is an archaeological dig near Baghdad giving a great air of mystery. The characters are French, American, British, and Arabic giving the story more variety than to be expected from an Agatha Christie novel. The story is told from the direct point of view of the nurse. This perspective gave additional intrigue since the nurse was in the household at the time of the murder.
If you like a good mystery or archeaeological excavation, this is the book for you! I rather enjoyed it!
